A family story
The Family Pact blog

Do you feel pressure as Christmas approaches?

Not any more, I feel free and happy to prepare for this special moment spent with my family and the children!

One thing is irrefutable, which is especially striking at Christmas time: If you are not careful, you can easily spoil your children too much.

The toy catalogue is nice. The letter to Santa is lovely. The ads on TV give them plenty to dream about!
But this is no reason to wildly throw off all restraint. Because if children are spoiled too much, it is us adults—nanny and granddad included—who are to blame. Isn’t it?

Moreover, it reminds me of a mistake my husband made in his youth (it’s always him who makes the mistakes, I, of course, am perfect) when he gave our first son a racing set for his very first birthday!
A little early for his age, isn’t it? In any case, we quickly learnt our lesson!

Finally, by trusting children and by helping them to express what they truly want, I quickly realised that they weren’t as demanding as all that, and I would even say they are rather reasonable.
For them, the magic of Christmas means making them happy and showing them special attention, making their dreams come true by offering them a gift they really want, surprising them and spending quality time with them.

So, I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and much joy & happiness with your families.
